Achieving
Peak Academic Performance
Through Stress-Free Learning ©
School-related stress is the most
prevalent, untreated cause of
academic
failure.
Robert D. Shelley, Ph. D.
Stress
Management Consultant
The
negative relationship between stress and impaired
scholastic performance
is well established. Today, tens of millions of students are at high risk for
developing stress-related problems that can interfere with their ability to
learn.
Achievement stress,
the virtually pandemic “invisible disability” is rarely detected but generally
gets worse as students progress through school. Untreated achievement stress
may result in academic failure, behavioral, physical and emotional problems and
drug and substance abuse.
Reducing stress
significantly improves performance in reading, math, language, handwriting,
social and attention skills and enhances athletic performance and artistic
expression.
Unfortunately, stress management programs in schools are practically
non-existent.
When
stress management techniques
are incorporated into our daily lives, the ability to learn more efficiently is
improved. Through this program, students learn how to combat stress, improve
their focus, concentration, memory and motivation. Their enthusiasm for
learning will increase; their self-esteem and self-confidence will soar and
their immune system will be strengthened. Stress-related anger, rage and
anti-social behavior will diminish drastically. State-funded studies of
stress reduction techniques for students resulted in an increase in grade levels
ranging from 1.2 grade levels (22% improvement) to 5.5. grade levels. *
These successes can be achieved in your school as a result of our Stress-Free
Learning Program. Practicing the techniques for just 30 days inculcates these
positive behavioral patterns for a lifetime.
The
day-to-day stresses
encountered by your students can impede their ability to relate to others in a
positive way. According to the American Psychiatric Association, stress-related
mental disorders are up to 400% more prevalent than any other emotional problem
requiring clinical treatment. The National Institutes of Health have noted that
because stress weakens the immune system, creating a fertile environment for
physical and emotional disease, up to 90% of physical conditions requiring
treatment are stress-related.
This
program can help students
to easily cope with the stress and challenges of modern life. It will show them
how to effortlessly improve their information processing skills, their
visual/auditory short-term memory and their study habits. Mental learning
barriers diminish and confidence builds. “Exam anxiety” will be a thing of the
past. Students discover how to learn more quickly and efficiently, to think
more clearly and make intelligent decisions.
Learning affects us every waking moment
from the day we are born. What students discover in this program will affect,
in a profound and positive way, how they interact with teachers, their parents,
their peers and the world around them.
Teachers, guidance counselors and school psychologists
all have an important role to play in your children’s education. This program
does not in any way duplicate their contributions to the educational process.
Parents and teachers who are tuned in to their own stresses as well as those of
their children will understand and appreciate the value of this program.
Best wishes,
Robert
Shelley, Ph.D.
